It's a who's who of college football recruiting, bringing together 162 of the top high school prospects in the country. In the mix of it all? Gulfport rising senior Derick Hall.

"Just playing with the best, playing against the best," Hall said of his experience. "We had Derek Stingley Jr, Spencer Rattler, (the) number one quarterback in the country, so just playing with those guys really made it fun."

The 6'4, 217 pound prospect used "The Opening" in Frisco, TX this week to rub elbows with some of the best high school, college and professional talent the sport has to offer. He also helped lead Team Overdrive to a victory in the 7-on-7 finals.

"Just lining up against the best, it let me know where I stand and what I need to work on and what more I've got to do to be successful," Hall said.

It's the latest step in a whirlwind few months for Hall. An ESPN 300 and 247 four-star linebacker prospect for 2019, Hall holds offers from the likes of Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Auburn and LSU among others.

"It's been fun. It's been great," Hall said of the recruiting process. "It's a lot of hassle, but it's a blessing and very well worth it."

Hall narrowed down his top eight back in March to Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Florida State, Tennessee, Louisville, Arkansas and Vanderbilt, but says that grouping is subject to change and there is no timetable for a commitment at the moment. However, the Admirals' standout says he doesn't plan on letting his recruitment stand in the way of a stellar senior season.

"Just being humble," Hall said on how he stays focused through all the noise. "That's what my family, that's what my coaches - they're all preaching being humble. I could come out here and be average, let everybody else work hard knowing that I already got what I need, but just coming out here, being the person who I am for my tea...
