After placing third last year, the Gulfport Admirals entered the 36th annual Adidas Holiday Classic determined to defend their home court.
With one game in the books, the Admirals are off to the right start. Despite trailing by two at halftime, Gulfport (14-2) rallied to top Corinth 76-62 inside Bert Jenkins Gymnasium. Omar Christian led the way with 17 points on the night.
Long Beach tipped off the event with a nail-biting win over Pascagoula, escaping the Panthers with a 74-72 win. Meanwhile, Biloxi (14-0) kept their perfect record intact with a 54-40 win over Vestavia Hills (AL) and Picayune held off Harrison Central 63-49.
